Raj Thackeray To Fight Solo in Maharashtra Assembly Polls in 225-250 Seats

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray has decided to go solo in the upcoming Assembly polls in Maharashtra.

He seems to have decided it after the recent debacle of the Mahayuti alliance in the Lok Sabha polls. At a party meeting in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray declared that his party is expected to field candidates in 225–250 seats in Maharashtra.

Raj Thackeray had extended unconditional support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.

To prepare for the Assembly polls, Raj Thackeray appointed a team of five leaders in each constituency to identify suitable candidates of his party. He will start his Maharashtra tour on August 1 to address meetings and get feedback from party workers.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar has expressed his desire to contest the upcoming state polls on 80 to 90 seats, while Shinde’s Sena is eyeing nearly 100 seats. The BJP is planning to contest 160 to 170 seats out of 288.

The Marathi and Hindutva agendas are common among all three parties. So, some feel, MNS’s decision to fight solo may affect the BJP and Shinde.
