WATCH: Internet Erupts as Rohit, Virat Lift T20 World Cup For Fans During Victory Parade

Mumbai: Team India’s fans had an unforgettable moment during the victory parade in Mumbai on Thursday when Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma lifted the ICC T20 World Cup trophy together. The team received an enthusiastic welcome after ending India’s long wait for an ICC title by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final-over match at the Kensington Oval.

As they approach the end of their illustrious international careers, both Kohli and Rohit played pivotal roles in what was their final T20 World Cup. Kohli returned to peak form, while Captain Rohit led his team to a memorable seven-run victory. Rohit was instrumental throughout the tournament, hitting three half-centuries.

In a fitting conclusion, Rohit avenged India’s previous loss to Australia in the 2023 World Cup final by overcoming them in the T20 World Cup. The team also triumphed over England and South Africa in the knockout stages to clinch the prestigious trophy in the Caribbean. The Indian team experienced a three-day delay in Barbados before their victorious return.

Traffic in Mumbai came to a standstill as the victory parade commenced from the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Nariman Point after 7:30 PM. Kohli and Rohit lifted the T20 World Cup trophy together during the open bus parade, a gesture that quickly went viral on social media.

Shortly after India’s historic win, Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is, following a match-winning 76 against South Africa. Rohit also confirmed his retirement from T20Is, both players choosing to focus on the traditional formats as they conclude their T20I careers on a high note.
