Mumbai BMW Hit-and-Run Case: Shinde Sena Leader’s Son Mihir Shah Arrested

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, on Tuesday. The 24-year-old had been evading arrest since the fatal accident occurred in Mumbai’ Worli area on Sunday morning.

Mihir Shah was allegedly driving a BMW that struck and killed Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, and injured her husband, Pradeep, as they rode their two-wheeler. In response, Mumbai Police formed 11 teams and involved the Crime Branch to track him down, issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him.

Rajesh Shah, a Palghar Shiv Sena leader allegedly actively facilitated his son’s escape and intended to tow away the implicated vehicle, cops said.

On July 8, Rajesh Shah and co-accused Rajrishi Bidawat (the driver) appeared before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SP Bhosale at Sewree court. Rajesh received bail, while Bidawat was remanded in one-day police custody and 14-day judicial custody.

Investigation revealed that after the initial collision, Mihir Shah and Bidawat dragged Kaveri Nakhwa for 1.5 kilometers near the Bandra Worli Sea Link. CCTV footage showed the men removing her from the bonnet and running her over again while reversing the car.

The car’s engine stalled at Kala Nagar, prompting Mihir to call his father. Rajesh Shah arrived in a Mercedes, advised his son to flee, and planned to tow the BMW, as per cops.
