Spurious Liquor Kills 1 in Ganjam, 2 Critical, 11 Admitted to  MKCG Berhampur

Berhampur: One of the 15 persons admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after consuming spurious country liquor in Chikiti block of Ganjam district died on Wednesday.

The deceased was from the Jenasahi village of Chikiti block. According to hospital sources, the condition of two other spurious liquor victims was critical and they are admitted to the ICU. Another 11 persons affected by the spurious liquor are undergoing treatment in the medicine ward of the medical college hospital.

Around 17 persons from Karbala and Jenasahi villages became ill after consuming illicit country liquor procured near Moundpur on Monday evening. All of them showed up symptoms of stomach ache and vomiting. They were initially admitted to the Chikiti hospital and later 15 of them were shifted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital. On Wednesday morning, one of them breathed his last.
