NEET-UG Row: Supreme Court Directs NTA to Clarify OMR Grievance Procedure

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide information on the time limit for raising concerns about OMR sheets in the NEET-UG 2024 examination. This development came during a hearing today, where a vacation bench addressed a new petition filed by a coaching institute and several NEET candidates.

During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the NTA and scheduled the case for July 8. The justices questioned the coaching institute’s standing to file an Article 32 petition. NTA’s counsel stated that OMR sheets have been uploaded online and provided to candidates. The bench sought clarification on the grievance submission timeline, while petitioners requested interim relief for candidates to receive OMR sheets.

This case adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding NEET-UG 2024, which includes multiple petitions seeking to cancel the exam and calls for a court-monitored investigation. Allegations of irregularities in exam conduct have surfaced, leading to the cancellation of grace marks for 1,563 candidates. An unprecedented 67 students scoring perfect 720 marks has also raised eyebrows.
