Telangana To Have First Transgender Traffic Troops in India

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced to make India’s first-ever transgender-specific government recruitment. Under this project, transgender persons will be trained and recruited for traffic management.

This innovative program for transgender persons was announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. After selection and recruitment, transgender individuals will undergo special training to assist the Hyderabad traffic police.

The Telangana government will also introduce distinct uniforms for transgender recruits, with separate designs for “He/She” and “Him/Her” individuals.

The terms of employment, including salaries and benefits, are being finalised to ensure equality and respect for the recruits.

According to the government, this move is not only unprecedented in India but is also a global first.
