Three Killed, 14 Injured as Pickup Van Overturns in Sundargarh Dist

Sundargarh: Three persons died and 14 others were injured when a pickup van in which they were travelling overturned at Mundajor near Amjharan village under Lathikata police station limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday night.

According to reports, the deceased and the injured were part of a marriage party, including the bridegroom. They were travelling by a pick-up van to Lathikata from Jharkhand’s Banaposita to for the marriage ceremony.

The driver of the vehicle lost control near Mundajor at a ghat and the vehicle overturned. Three members of the marriage party died on the spot. The 14 injured were admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital. The condition of three of them is critical.

Personnel of the Lathikata police station reached the spot, seized the bodies and the vehicle, and started an investigation into the accident. They have also seized the ill-fated vehicle.
