UP Govt Suspends SDM, 5 Other Officials on Basis of Hathras SIT Report

Lucknow: Acting on the basis of the SIT report on the Hathras stampede, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday suspended the local SDM, a circle officer, a tehsildar and three others.

The SIT report on the Hathras stampede did not rule out a “big conspiracy” behind the incident tha tclaimned 121 lives.

The SIT report held the organisers responsible for the stampede. It alleged that the organizers did not make arrangements to manage the crowd. The report also blamed the administration, according to official sources.

It said the local police and administration did not take the event seriously and failed to provide proper information to senior officers.

On the basis of the SIT report, six people, including an SDM, circle officer, and a tehsildar have been suspended by the UP government.
