Lucknow: A serial killer named Kuldeep Kumar was arrested in Bareilly of Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of murdering at least nine middle-aged women. He used to target women aged between 45 and 65 years.
According to police sources, the arrested accused has already confessed to six murders. He killed the women in deserted locations in Bareilly’s Shahi and Sheeshgarh areas since July 1, 2023.
Kuldeep was strangling his victims using the drape of their sarees or dupatta.
The clothes, jewellery and Aadhaar cards of four women killed by Kuldeep were recovered from his possession.
Bareilly police engaged 22 teams in rural areas of Shahi and Sheeshgarh to nab the serial killer. Footage of around 1,500 CCTV cameras was searched to track Kuldeep’s activities.
Later, a sketch of the accused was prepared and released.
According to police sources, Kuldeep was frustrated after his father, Baburam, opted for second marriage while his mother was alive. His own married life was in doldrums as his wife had left him. He used to have constant quarrels at home. Later he became an alcoholic and started targeting women in nearby jungles. He killed at least 9 women during past one year.
