UP Youth Arrested for Casting Multiple Votes After His Video Goes Viral

Lucknow: A youth identified as Rajan Singh of Uttar Pradesh’s Etah was arrested on Sunday after a video of him casting multiple votes went viral on social media, reported The Tribune.

The arrested youngster is an inhabitant of the Khiriya Pamaran village in the Etah district.

This multiple voting incident was reported in the Farrukhabad parliamentary constituency that went to polls on May 13. The video clip showing him voting multiple times, was shared by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and other politicians. The accused was seen recording himself while allegedly casting votes for the BJP several times in a series of instances.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Officer, Navdeep Rinwa informed that the youth has been arrested and booked under various sections and a re-polling has been recommended for the booth in Etah district.

The UP CEO has also ordered disciplinary proceedings against all members of the polling party of the concerned booth. Repoll has been recommended to the ECI at the polling station concerned.
