UPSC Chairperson Manoj Soni Resigns 5 Years Before Completing Term: Sources

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) chairperson Manoj Soni has resigned due to “personal reasons”. He stepped down almost five years before completion of his tenure in 2029, reported India Today, quoting sources.

According to sources, Manoj Soni had submitted his resignation to the President about a month ago. However, it is not clear whether his resignation will be accepted or not.

Manoj Soni became a member of the UPSC in 2017. He became the UPSC chairman on May 16, 2023. The UPSC conducts the civil services exam (CSE) to recruit candidates into top government services like IAS, IPS, IFS.

Soni has earlier served three terms as a vice-chancellor at two universities in Gujarat. He is scholar of political science.
