Wild Leopard Sighted in Baripada Town, Locals Panicked

Baripada: A wild leopard was reported to be sighted roaming in Baripada town in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday morning.

This has panicked the inhabitants of Baripada. According to the inhabitants of the town, the big cat was found to be roaming in the Bhanjapur area of the town.

Forest officials rushed to the spot after receiving the information to start a search operation for the tiger and shoo it away from the vicinity of human habitat.

Baripada town is located near the Similipal Tiger Reserve, so a big cat straying out to it cannot be ruled out. Detailed reports related to the incident are awaited.

In the past, a leopard was spotted in Jagannathpur village on the side of Lulung Road under the Baripada forest division in Mayurbhanj district.
