Woman Killed by 2 Sons in Cuttack

Cuttack: A woman named Anima Mohanty was murdered by her two sons at the Mahanadi Vihar area in Cuttack on Saturday.

The accused identified as Anurag Mohanty and Anshuman Mohanty are said to be mentally unstable.

Anima died on the spot at the wee hours of Saturday, when her sons attacked her with a sharp weapon. Hearing Anima’s screams, neighbours called up the police.

One of the accused brothers was arrested by the police, while the other has absconded.

The reason behind the murder has not been ascertained. It is suspected that the mental health issues of the siblings led to the crime. Anima living at plot no 714 of Mahanadi Vihar was taking care of her sons due to their mental condition.

Neighbours say that during past few days, the behavior of the two sons had become extra erratic.

The police are investigating the matter from all angles and efforts are on to nab the absconded accused.
