Coca-Cola to launch Iced Green Tea Partnering With Darjeeling Tea Estate

Kolkata: Soft drink giant Coca-Cola is joining hands with the famous Makaibari tea estate of Darjeeling to launch ready-to-drink iced green tea to India.

This new beverage of Coke will be marketed under ‘Honest Tea’, a brand it acquired years ago in the US. For this iced green tea Coca-Cola will use organic green tea exclusively produced in Makaibari, said to be the best tea grown in Darjeeling.

The alliance was formally announced on the second day of the Bengal Global Business Summit in Calcutta in the presence of Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Rudra Chatterjee, director of Luxmi Tea, which owns the Makaibari tea estate.

Coca-Cola is launching the iced green tea first in the southern and western states. Later it will be sold in all over India by summer months of 2024. A 350-ml bottle is likely to be priced at Rs 50. The company has so far launched two variants of the tea —lemon-tulsi and mango.
