Rape Allegation Against Industrialist Sajjan Jindal, He Calls it “False, Baseless”

New Delhi: A Mumbai woman levelled rape allegation against Sajjan Jindal, the chairman and managing director of the JSW Group. Jindal denied the allegations and termed the charge as “false and baseless”, in an official statement.

“Mr. Sajjan Jindal denies these false and baseless allegations. He is committed to providing full cooperation throughout the investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from commenting further at this stage. We kindly request you to respect the privacy of the family,” an official statement released on Sunday stated.

A first information report (FIR) was filed at the BKC police station in Mumbai on Wednesday, December 13, under sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that she met Jindal at a cricket match in Dubai in 2021 and they later met a few times when Jindal allegedly promised to marry her and made physical advances on her.

The woman claimed that Jindal allegedly sexually assaulted her on January 24, 2022. According to the woman, Jindal later apologized to her but allegedly threatened her with dire consequences and later blocked her from contacting him.

The woman had initially approached the police in February 2023 and later moved the Bombay High Court when her complaint was not registered.
