Stocks Updates: Sensex rises 104 points; Nifty adds 23 points

New Delhi: The key domestic stock indices today logged modest gains in the afternoon trade. Both indices rose even as the cues from global share markets were negative. The Sensex was trading above 59,800 points while the Nifty was trading above 17,750 level.

The Sensex rose 104 points, or 0.17 percent, to trade at 59,860. The Nifty also added 23 points, or 0.13 percent, to 17,760 when reports last came in.

In the forex market, the rupee appreciated five paise to trade at 82 rupees and 45 paise against the US dollar in the afternoon deals.
