14 Sentenced to Life Imprisonment by Paralakhemundi Court in 15-Yr-Old Murder Case

Paralakhemundi:  A court of in Paralakhemundi Paralakhemundi additional district session judge in the Gajapati district on Thursday sentenced life imprisonment to 14 people in a 15-year-old murder case.

Paralakhemundi additional district session judge Pradeep Kumar Samal also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on all convicts.

The convicts included an 84-year-old named Sakalamukhi Ballabha. The other convicts are Guralu Budu (56), Nagabansa Nagarjuna (28), Padala Prasad (47), Jilipi Krishna (42), Nagabansa Ramaswami (36), Liari Suresh (42), Nagabansa Ramakrushna (34), Sakalamukhi Madhava (26), Nagabansa Simadri (62), Harikrishna Nagabansa (50), Nagabansa Padman (41), Nagabansa Radhakanta (43), Guralu Gopala (62), Nagabansa Bhaskar and Jangam Harinath.

As per the chargesheet, these convicts attacked and molested a woman in her house at Ghasi Sahi in Paralakhemundi on March 12, 2009 over past enmity. The woman died while undergoing treatment. Police registered a case and arrested 16 persons involved in the incident.

During trial of the case, two of them died. So, 14 were convicted of murder after 15 years.
