70-Yr-Old Shopkeeper Shot Dead for Denying ‘Khaini’ in Bihar

Patna: Armed men shot dead a 70-year-old man in Bihar’s Samastipur district on Monday as he refused to open his shop to give them ‘khaini’ (chewing tobacco).

Police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder.

The deceased, Baijnath Mishra managed a grocery shop in front of their house. He also sold khaini at his shop.

The men who shot dead Baijnath were his neighbours. According to reports, Lal Jha, Shivam Mahto, Rajgir Paswan and others came in an inebriated state to the shop at around 11pm on Sunday night and asked the man to open the shop and give them khaini. Ehen he and his sons refused as it was very late, they became angry and they assaulted the shopkeeper andhis two sons.

Later, Baijnath was shot dead while he was sleeping at the outer verandah of his house. He was shot at around 2am. He was shot in the temple.

An FIR was registered at Dalsinghsarai police station against eight people. Two of them were arrested, while search is on to nab the other six absconding accused persons.
