Contract Killer Carrying Rs 1 Lakh Reward Gunned Down in UP

Lucknow: A contract killer, Sumit Singh alias Monu Chavanni, who was carrying Rs 1 lakh reward on his head, was killed in an encounter with police encounter in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning.

The exchange of fire took place in the Badlapur area at around 4 AM. Sumit Singh alias Monu Chavanni received bullet injuries and died in hospital during treatment.

Police have recovered one AK 47 assault rifle and a 9 mm pistol from the procession of the slain criminal.

Sumit was a contract killer, who killed for the mafia gangs of UP and Bihar.

At least 23 cases of murders, kidnappings and other crimes were pending against him.

But two accomplices of the slain criminal managed to escape from the spot of the encounter.
