Delhi Cop Dies After Being Hit, Dragged By Car For 10 Metres

New Delhi: A 30-year-old Delhi police constable succumbed to head injuries after being dragged by a car in what is suspected to be a road rage case in Delhi’s Nangloi area, late last night.

The victim, Sandeep, dressed in civilian clothes, was on duty to investigate a recent surge in theft cases when he was struck by a car and dragged along the road.

The constable, riding his motorcycle, signalled a speeding WagonR to slow down. However, the car accelerated and struck his bike from behind, dragging Sandeep and the motorcycle for around 10 metres. He was rushed to a local hospital and later transferred to another facility, where he was declared dead.

CCTV footage captured the moment when Sandeep gestured at the car before it hit him. The car’s two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have seized the car and filed a murder case, launching a search for the suspects.

Some sources suggest that one of the occupants may be linked to illegal liquor trade activities, but police have not confirmed this claim.

Sandeep is survived by his mother, wife, and five-year-old son.

The case adds to a growing list of road rage incidents in the Delhi NCR. In a recent case last month, a 32-year-old auto-rickshaw driver died after being assaulted in Faridabad following a minor collision. Similarly, in July, a man opened fire on a family in a road rage incident, killing a 30-year-old woman.
