ITBP Seizes Record 108kg Gold Smuggled from China in Ladakh

Ladakh: The personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) seized 108kg of gold smuggled from China near the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. Two persons involved in this gold smuggling were arrested.

It was the largest amount of gold seized by the ITBP in its history. The seized gold will be handed over to the customs department.

The seizure was made in the wee hours of Tuesday by the ITBP team deployed to check infiltration and smuggling attempts along the border.

The smuggled gold included 108 gold bars, each weighing 1kg.

The arrested smugglers were identified as residents of Ladakh’s Nyoma area.
