Killer of Own Son Sentenced To Life Imprisonment In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A 40-year-old man named Chepa Dehuri (40) was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his son in 2020 in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.

Chepa Dehury was also ordered by the Additional District Court (1) of Mayurbhanj to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 failing which he would undergo a further six months imprisonment.

The court passed its order on the basis of statements of 53 witnesses, medical report and police investigation report.

The convict, Chepa lived with his family in Beladungari under Badasahi police station. On October 23, 2020, Chepa hit his son Sudam Dehuri on the head with a stone following a quarrel. Sudam died on the spot.
