Maharashtra Bizman Arrested for Creating Fake WhatsApp Account of NCP Leader to Collect Money

Mumbai: A businessman named Rahul Kant was arrested for allegedly creating a fake WhatsApp account using the name and photo of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel to collect money from people staying abroad including members of Qatar’s royal family.

He was arrested by Maharashtra Cyber police. Kant used Patel’s name and photo as DP to create a fake WhatsApp account of the latter. Then he targeted people based abroad including members of Qatar’s royal family to demand money.

On July 23, an aide of Patel lodged a complaint with Maharashtra Cyber officials regarding it.

Cyber police officials tracked down the accused in Juhu. According to police sources, the businessman was facing financial problems. He used this modus operandi to make quick money.
