Man ‘Stoned To Death’ In Front of Wife In Dhenkanal Dist

Dhenkanal: Some unidentified miscreants reportedly stoned a youth to death in front of his wife at Rupabeda village under Kankadahad police station limits in the Dhenkanal district on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Gagan Naik of Rupabeda village.

According to Gagan’s wife, her husband served as a labourer at a local stone quarry. While Gagan and his wife were returning home on Wednesday evening, they were intercepted by some miscreants near a bridge on the outskirts of their village.

According to the wife of the deceased, the miscreants tried to loot them. When Gagan opposed, he was allegedly stoned to death in front of his wife. The miscreants also beat up the woman. She managed to escape from the spot and called up the villagers.

Seriously injured Gagan was admitted to a hospital in Kamakshyanagar where he breathed his last.

The police have also registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by Gagan’s wife who is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
