Married Woman Assumed ‘Dead’ Found Living with Lover After 3 Yrs in UP

Lucknow: A married woman, who was assumed to have died after she went missing from her in-laws’ home for around three years was located by the Uttar Pradesh Police. The woman thought to have died was found to be living with her boyfriend in Lucknow.

The said woman named Kavita (23) from Gonda had married Vinay Kumar of Dadua Bazaar in November 2017.

She went missing from her in-laws’ house on May 5, 2021. Her parents and in-laws filed murder and kidnapping cases against her husband, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.

In December 2022, Vinay Kumar, the husband, also filed a case against six people, including Kavita’s brother Akhilesh, alleging that they had kidnapped her.

The matter had reached the Allahabad High Court. Following a court directive, police resumed investigation of the case and located Kavita at the home of her lover named Satya Narayan Gupta, in Lucknow.

Satya Narayan owned a shop in Gonda. Kavita developed a relationship with him while visiting his shop. Later both of them eloped.

During police interrogation, Kavita revealed that she and her boyfriend stayed in Ayodhya for a year before shifting to Lucknow.
