Posing as Miracle Healers Kinnars Steal Woman’s Gold Chain In Nuapada

Nuapada: A group of kinnars (transgenders) allegedly conned the family of a businessman and stole a gold chain at Tukala village under Khariar police station limits in Nuapada district on Wednesday.

According to reports, a group of 3-4 kinnars arrived at the house of a local trader Raj Kumar Khemka in white car, claiming to be faith healers.

The transgenders sought alms from women in the family and discussed about the family’s well-being. After gaining the family’s trust, they offered to perform a ritual to cure the ailing eldest daughter-in-law of the family named Sonia.

The businessman’s family agreed to it. The transgenders asked all family members to leave the place while performed the ritual with Sonia. During the ritual, the kinnars snatched the gold chain from Sonia’s neck and fled from the spot in their car.

Later Khemka registered a complaint against the kinanr group at the Khariar police station.

Police are examining the CCTV footage and investigating to identify and nab the culprits.
