Pre-Poll Violence in Nayagarh Dist, Three Persons Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Three persons were arrested in connection with the pre-poll violence in Bhagabanpur under the Bhapur block in the Khandapada area of Nayagarh district on Friday.

The arrested persons were identified as Ramachandra Sahu, Loknath Sahoo, Dillip Pradhan. To take control over the situation in the area and to ensure free and fair elections, police conducted a flag march in the village. A peace committee meeting was also convened in Khandapada police station limits.

On Friday, tension sparked off at the Bhagabanpur village because of a violent clash between supporters of the BJP and the BJD over alleged distribution of cash by one group in the area. It was alleged that one group threatened the other with forearms and sharp weapons.
