Rs 13.56 Worth Gold Seized at Mumbai Airport, 11 Arrested

Mumbai: Around 22.14 kg of gold worth Rs 13.56 crore was seized by the Customs department at the Mumbai international airport between Friday and Sunday. This huge amount of gold was being brought to India illegally by various passengers. Eleven passengers in the smuggling of the seized gold were arrested.

According to the Customs officials, the arrested persons had concealed the gold in their rectum, undergarments, on their body and a cardboard sheet.

An arrested person hid the gold jewellery under the burka worn by her. Another passenger concealed the gold bars in the undergarment. Gold was also smuggled in the form of a bangle and a belt buckle worn by passengers. Gold dust in wax form was hidden by a passenger in the rectum.
