Woman Compelled to Participate in Nude Ritual in Kerala; 2 Including Husband Arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: Two persons were arrested by the Kerala police in Thamarassery of Kozhikode district for allegedly forcing a woman to participate in a nude ritual.

The arrested persons included the husband of the woman and a man named Prakasan (46). Acting on a complaint lodged by the woman, police arrested them.

In her police complaint, the woman alleged that Prakasan had told her that an evil spirit had taken over her husband’s body and was causing marital problems. Prakasan claimed that by performing a nude ritual on her would drive away the evil spirit. Her husband also supported Prakasan’s proposal.

Sensing Prakasan’s and her husband’s ill intentions, she lodged a complaint with the police.

The accused were arrested on Tuesday. They were sent to judicial custody as their bail plea was rejected.
