Woman Drugged, Raped, Robbed by E-Rickshaw Driver in Delhi

New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman from Bihar was allegedly drugged, raped and robbed by an e-rickshaw driver in Delhi. The accused e-rickshaw driver, Mohammad Umer (24) was arrested in the case from north Delhi’s Kotwali area.

According to police sources, this incident occurred on May 26. A woman was found in an injured condition while her three-year-old son was sitting beside her. The woman with her 3-year-old son was travelling to Punjab from Bihar to meet her husband.

After deboarding at the New Delhi Railway Station, she went to the Sadar market. While returning to the station via e-rickshaw, the driver allegedly offered her a drink, after which she lost consciousness.

According to her police complaint, the e-rickshaw driver took her to some deserted place where he raped her. When she tried to shout, the e-rickshaw driver hit her on the head with a brick. After coming to senses, she found that her mobile phone and Rs 3,000 cash were missing.

The police examined about 500 CCTV footage and examined around 150 e-rickshaw drivers to arrest the accused on May 29. The police recovered the woman’s mobile phone and the rickshaw used in the crime. The arrested man was previously arrested in a robbery case.
