Another IIT Guwahati Student Found Dead In Hostel Room; 4th Case This Yr

Guwahati: A 21-year-old student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G), was found dead in his hostel room. It was the fourth student death at the IIT-G in 2024. On August 9, a 24-year-old MTech student was also found dead in her hostel room.

The deceased male student hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Police seized his body and sent it for post-mortem.

“IITG is deeply saddened to report the loss of a student from our community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the student’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” an institute spokesperson said.

“IITG remains dedicated to prioritising the mental health and well-being of our student community during these challenging times,” the spokesperson added.
