“He Wanted To See My Underwear”: Priyanka Chopra Discloses Filmmaker’s Outrageous Demand

Mumbai: Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently spoke candidly about a distressing incident she faced in Bollywood during an interview. She revealed that while shooting for a film where she played an undercover role, a filmmaker made a demeaning remark about needing to see her underwear. Priyanka described the incident as dehumanizing and decided to walk away from the project.

Recalling the incident from around 2002 or 2003, Priyanka explained that her character was supposed to seduce a male character as part of her undercover role.

However, when she suggested layering up for the scene, the filmmaker insisted on seeing her underwear, questioning the film’s appeal to the audience. This disrespectful comment was made in front of Priyanka by the filmmaker to the stylist, leaving her feeling objectified and unvalued as an artist.

Feeling dejected by the incident, Priyanka decided to quit the movie after working on it for two days. In an act of integrity, she even reimbursed the production company with her own money as her father, Ashok Chopra, advised her to do so. The presence of the director on set became unbearable for Priyanka, stating that she couldn’t bring herself to face him daily.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas made her acting debut in 2002 with the Tamil film ‘Thamizhan’ and entered Bollywood in 2003 with ‘Andaaz’. She has since appeared in notable Hindi films such as ‘Aitraaz’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Don’, ‘Barfi!’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘The White Tiger’, and many others.

This incident shared by Priyanka Chopra Jonas sheds light on the challenges faced by actors in the entertainment industry and emphasizes the importance of respecting artists’ boundaries and their contributions beyond their physical appearance.
