Dead Snake In Mess Food, Ten Students Hospitalized At Bihar Engineering College

Patna: Ten students of a government engineering college in Bihar’s Banka district were hospitalized last week after a dead snake was allegedly found in their mess food.

The ailing students were admitted to the hospital on Thursday night with complaints of food poisoning. According to reports, all of them are now out of danger.

This incident sparked outrage at the hostel of the institute. The students alleged that college staff threatened them when they protested the incident.

The hostel mess of the institute is run by a private contractor.

The students alleged that since long they were being served extremely bad quality food in the hostels. The rules are such that if one has to stay in the hostel, they must eat the mess food. If one does not eat mess food or keeps mess charges unpaid, they are barred from the exam, alleged the students.

The Banka district administration has started an investigation into the incident. As per reports, a food-related complaint was reported at the college earlier and the administration had probed it.
