Funeral Feast Food Poisoning in Mayurbhanj Dist; 3 Dead, 20 Hospitalized

Baripada: Three persons reportedly died 20 others were hospitalized because of food poisoning in the Gudialbandha panchayat of Mayurbhanj district after eating at a funeral feast.

The deceased were identified as Rajkishore Naik (62) of Albandha village, Nidrabati Naik (50) of Karanjia village, and a minor from Chauliashola village.

According to reports, the deceased as well as the hospitalized persons had eaten at a community feast to mark the 10th-day funeral ritual of a deceased person. After consuming the food at the feast, the villagers developed severe diarrhoea symptoms as well as vomiting

Ten patients from the area have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital on Friday. The rest are being treated at the local hospital.

The Health Department has sent two teams to the area to investigate.

The district health officials have not confirmed any death related to the incident. But accepted that a total of 21 villagers have been admitted to hospital so far.
