78-years-old man marries 18-years-old in Philippines

Philippines: A 78-years-old man marries an 18-years-old girl purely out of love in Philippines. They met when the girl was 15 –years old. Retired farmer Rashed Mangacop met Halima Abdullah three years ago at a dinner party in the Cagayan province.

Rashed had never married before nor had a lover, Halima had her first relationship with him. The couple had a courtship of 3 years before marriage and got married in an Islamic ceremony on August 25.

The unusual relationship with an age gap of 60 years received consent from both families. One of the family members informed us that the girl was the first to fall in love. The groom was single and a bachelor so the families accepted the marriage proposal.

Under Philippines law, a person less than 21 years old can marry but has to secure consent from parents.
