Author Salman Rushdie Stabbed On Stage At New York Event

New York: India-born noted author Salman Rushdie was allegedly stabbed as he was about to deliver a lecture in western New York on Friday.

According to reports, a man stormed the stage at the Chautauqua Institution and stabbed Rushdie.

Rushdie was tended to after he was attacked and the assailant was restrained. His condition was not immediately known

Rushdie’s book ‘The Satanic Verses’ has been banned in Iran since 1988, as many Muslims consider it to be blasphemous, for which he got death threats from Iran.

Hundreds of people who gathered at the Chautauqua institute were evacuated following the attack on Rushdie.
