Death of the last Soviet President, Mikhail Gorbachev

Moscow: The last Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev passed away at the age of 91. He had been ill for a long time. He breathed his last on Tuesday after a long illness, Russian news agency Sputnik said in a statement from the Central Clinical Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering from severe kidney disease in June.

Gorbachev was the last leader of the USSR. He was considered a powerful Soviet leader. President Vladimir Putin expressed his deepest condolences on the death of the Soviet politician, the Kremlin spokesman told the media.
