Three-time former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif is expected to be re-elected as the President of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.
Six years back he lost the post following a Supreme Court ruling in the Panama Papers case.
According to The Dawn newspaper, the General Council meeting of the party will be held at a hotel in Lahore where Nawaz Sharif, who returned to Pakistan in October 2023 after a four-year self-imposed exile in the UK, will be elected unopposed.
PML-N Punjab president Rana Sanaullah, in a press conference, hinted that Nawaz Sharif would be elected without a contest.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier this month resigned as the PML-N president paving the way for Nawaz Sharif’s takeover.
