Imran Khan Denied Meals, Lodged in “C-Class” Cell, Alleges PTI

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of PTI Chief Imran Khan after his recent arrest.

Qureshi claimed that Khan’s life is in danger and that he had not been provided with meals by the jail authorities. Khan was arrested at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore following his conviction in the Toshakhana case, which resulted in a three-year prison sentence and a fine of PKR 100,000. The court also ruled him ineligible to hold public office for five years.

Qureshi criticized the treatment of Khan in jail, stating that he was shifted to Attock Jail instead of Adiala Jail, where the “B Class” facilities he was entitled to were not provided. He also highlighted that lawyers have been denied access to Khan in jail, hindering filing an appeal for his release without his signature on the power of attorney. Additionally, he pointed out that Khan was not taken to the Poly Clinic for a mandatory medical examination, which is the responsibility of the jail administration.

Qureshi urged the judiciary to take immediate action to ensure Khan’s safety and address the alleged lack of facilities and access to medical care during his imprisonment.
