Maldives Imposes Entry Ban on Israeli Citizens

The Maldivian government announced its decision to ban Israeli nationals from entering the island nation on Sunday.

Following it, Israel advised its citizens in Maldives to consider leaving the country.

“If Israelis who are currently in the Maldives encounter trouble, it will be difficult for us to assist them,” the Israeli government said as quoted by Xinhua news agency report.

Israel also recommended that Israeli citizens refrain from travelling to the Muslim-majority island nation, even if they hold a second passport from another country.

A Maldivian cabinet meeting on Sunday imposed the entry ban on Israeli citizens in response to the Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

According to reports, Maldives receives more than one million tourists annually, and out of them, around 15,000 tourists come from Israel.
