A man from Ellis County, Texas, has gained viral attention after buying a Taylor Swift-autographed guitar for $4,000 (Rs 3.35 lakh) at an auction, only to destroy it immediately after. The incident occurred at the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner, a non-profit event supporting agricultural education for local youth, near Dallas.
According to reports, the guitar, complete with a certificate of authenticity, was donated by a third party. In a viral video, the man, with white hair, is seen smashing the guitar with a hammer to cheers from the crowd. He even appeared to prepare to slam it on the ground before the host stepped in.

Speculation arose that the act was a protest against Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 US presidential election. However, the man’s actual motives remain unclear.
The bizarre incident has sparked heated debate online, with some applauding the audacity while others condemned the destruction as wasteful.
A spokesperson for the Ellis County Wild Game event said that the man’s actions were “not meant to be malicious” but rather a humorous protest against celebrities influencing politics. They further clarified that the event raised funds for local youth, with 100% of the proceeds supporting agricultural education.
Last month, Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris, urging her 283 million Instagram followers to vote in the November 5 election, citing Harris’ leadership as a key reason.
