Over 100 persons died and several others were injured in an Israeli strike on a school where displaced people had taken shelter in eastern Gaza.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Israeli strike happened while people sheltered in the school were performing prayers.
“The Israeli strikes targeted the displaced people while performing Fajr (dawn) prayers, a matter that led to a rapid increase in the number of casualties,” the Hamas-run Gaza government media office said in a statement.
Last week, four schools across Gaza were faced Israeli attacks.
On August 4, two schools serving as shelters for displaced people in Gaza City were attacked by Israel, killing 30 and injuring several others. On August 3, an Israeli strike on Hamama School in Gaza City killed 17.
On August 1, an Israeli strike hit Dalal al-Mughrabi School in Gaza killing 15.
More than 40,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza in the 10-month-long war which started after Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, killed around 1,200 people.
