Pandemic not over but its end is near: WHO Chief

New Delhi: The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’s statement has come to light. The WHO chief told the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday that the epidemic is not over but it is nearing its end.

The world has seen a huge drop in the number of cases and deaths caused by the coronavirus. Now it is said that the epidemic is now in its final stages. The WHO chief said that the end of the epidemic does not mean that it has reached its end. Of course, we have reached a better position than before. There has been a decrease in the number of weekly deaths in the world. Compared to January 2021, we are now at 10 percent. Two-thirds of the world’s population has been vaccinated.

The head of WHO said that the corona restrictions imposed in most countries in the world have been ended. He said that there is still a long gap in vaccination in some countries. He further said that after one and a half years, a glimpse of light has been seen. But we still have a long way to go. Many obstacles can get us into trouble if we don’t pay attention to them.

He said that everyone needs to keep their distance, wear masks and use ventilation to stay safe. He said that only 19 percent of the total population has been vaccinated in low-income countries.
