Queen Elizabeth’s Mortal Remains Laid To Rest At Windsor Castle

London: Bringing an end to days of public mourning, Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, has been laid to rest at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The Queen’s coffin was lowered into the royal vault next to her husband, Prince Philip, on Monday.

The Queen’s final resting place will be the King George VI memorial chapel, a small annex to the main chapel at Windsor. The Queen’s parents and sister, Princess Margaret, also rest at this chapel in Windsor Castle.

As of now, there are 25 members of the royal family who are resting in the chamber.

The burial service was an entirely private affair with only members of the Royal Family present at the Windsor Castle.

Hundreds of thousands of well-wishers lined the route her hearse took from London, throwing flowers, cheering and clapping as it passed from London to the English countryside.
