Rachel Haynes retired from international cricket

Melbourne: Australian women’s cricket team vice-captain Rachel Haynes announced her retirement from international cricket on Thursday. The upcoming Women’s Big Boss League will be Rachel’s last domestic season. Rachel, a 35-year-old left-handed batsman, made her international debut in 2009. During her 13-year career in international cricket, Rachel was a key player in the middle of the Australian women’s cricket team.

She has played 84 T20 matches, 77 ODIs and 6 Test matches and scored nearly 4000 runs. Haynes scored 98 on her Test debut against England. She has also played for New South Wales in the domestic cricket Big Boss League. In 2018, she was appointed vice-captain of the Australian national Twenty20 team. She was a member of the Australian team that won the 2020 One Day World Cup and 2022 Birmingham State Sports Gold. Rachel announced her retirement from international cricket and said, “I have received support from the club, state, coaches, family and friends in particular. A special thank you to Rachel Ma Jenny, father Ian and partner Leah for their unwavering support.”
