Reports Claim Twitter’s Headcount Reduced To 1,300; Musk Responds

San Fransisco: Elon Musk has refuted recent claims that Twitter’s full-time employee count has been significantly reduced. Twitter CEO Musk indicated that there are roughly 2,300 active working staff at Twitter in a tweet on Saturday. He provided information that was in direct opposition to a CNBC report that stated the company had decreased its staff to about 1,300, with fewer than 550 full-time engineers by title.

Additionally, according to CNBC’s story, about 75 of Twitter’s 1,300 employees—including about 40 engineers—are currently on leave. However, Musk denied these claims, stating that the company still has “hundreds of employees working on trust & safety, along with several thousand contractors.”

Since taking over as Twitter’s CEO in October, Musk has made a number of modifications to the company’s organisational structure and product. Elon Musk launched a commercial Twitter-verified blue checkmark service shortly after the takeover for an $8 monthly subscription. Additionally, he fired about 50% of the company’s workforce. Before Musk took charge, the company employed over 7,000 people. According to reports, Musk had assured the staff that he wouldn’t fire 75% of the workforce.

According to the most recent data, the social media business has already lost close to 70% of its whole employees since Elon Musk gained control of the company.

Numerous large digital firms, including Google, Meta, and Amazon, have fired thousands of workers. The most recent addition to the list was Google, which let go of 12,000 workers. Amazon has chosen to let go of almost 18,000 workers.
