Trader Couple Arrested for Selling Goats With Plastic Teeth in Pakistan

A trader and his wife were arrested by the authorities in Pakistan’s Karachi on Saturday for allegedly selling sacrificial goats with plastic teeth.

According to ARY News, the arrested couple was selling these goats in the Gulberg Chowrangi area of Karachi. When a video clip showing a customer removing what appeared to be plastic teeth from one of the goats became viral on social media, the law enforcement officials in Karachi initiated action against the trader. It was found that the trader had used plastic straw pieces to make the artificial teeth of the goats.

The plastic teeth had been placed to fill the incomplete teeth of an animal. Seven goats were also brought to the police station for investigation.

The arrested trader was selling the goats for sacrifice during Eidul Adha on June 17. On this day Muslims commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to God by sacrificing animals. The meat from these sacrifices is traditionally shared with family and the poor.
