Trump To Surrender In Court; Arraignment Won’t Be Televised

Former US President Donald Trump is set to appear in court on Tuesday. He will arrive at a Manhattan courtroom and appear before Judge Juan Merchan at 11:45 pm IST.

His indictment, which is currently sealed, will be read out detailing the criminal charges. After that, Trump will fly back to Florida where he will address a speech to his supporters later.

Given that there are concerns about law and order in New York City following the US Capitol violence by Trump’s supporters in 2021, the New York City Police is on high alert. Tight security is in place outside the Manhattan court and other areas.

“Our message is clear and simple: Control yourselves. New York City is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger,” New York Mayor Eric Adams has warned Trump supporters who are planning massive protests in the city.

Donald Trump’s arraignment won’t be broadcast live, but few photographers will be allowed to take visuals at the start of the proceedings. The District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, who led the investigation, will later give a news conference.
