Do You Know ? Lord Hanuman Never Used Gada In Ramayan Epic!

Hanuman, the well-known Hindu God who is also known as the son of wind is known for his extraordinary daring feats, strength, and loyalty.

Every Hindu devotee who worships Lord Hanuman has always seen his idol handling a Gada or Mace. But it will surprise you that Hanuman had never used Gada as a weapon.

Valmiki Ramayana, the first Ramayana which describes the story of Lord Ramachandra and his journey as one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, clearly mentioned the fact that Hanuman used his strong fists, mountains, trees, and boulders as weapons.

There was no mention of any Gada in the entire epic. Hanuman was strong enough to kill demons from a single blow with his bare hands, he never needed weapons of any sort. It is a later addition to Hanuman’s iconography that he is wielding a Mace.

Lord Hanuman is the son of Wind God, so He travels at the speed of Wind and he is Shivansh (child/form, possessing few qualities of God Shiva).’

When Indra injured Hanuman and he got recovered various gods gave him blessings and weapons. All Gods granted various boons, weapons, and supernatural powers to Lord Hanuman.

Lord Kubera gave the Mace ( Gada) to Lord Hanuman, the mace is called Kaumodaki. Koumodaki is referred to as Gada Devi and intelligence. Vibhishan is said to be the incarnation of Koumodaki mace. It is infallible and all slaying mace.

Hanuman only used his fists in the Lanka war. He also had knowledge of archery and celestial weapons.

Gada was very special it used to change its size according to the size of Hanuman and when he didn’t need it, he used to disappear. In terms of strength, it is defined that he killed many super-powerful demons with this Gada.
