Humans Eat 100 Billion Animals Every Year, Savor 205 Million Chickens Everyday

A video going viral on social media shows astonishing statistics related to meat consumption in the world. According to the viral video, humans consume 100 billion animals of different varieties every year.

Every day 205 million chickens are eaten up throughout the world. It means 1,40,000 chickens are slaughtered every minute.

The other animals on top the top of the list include sardines (14 billion every year), shrimp (3 billion every year), duck (2.9 billion) and goose (2.1 billion).

The report reveals surprising fact that two billion octopuses and 100 million sharks reach human kitchens every year.

Nearly 1.5 billion pigs are killed for meat every year.

According to World Economic Forum (WEF) report, meat consumption has increased in the world with rise in their demand in middle income countries like China, which became largest consumer of with the economic boom.

But the beef has seen its global share getting lowered to half in the last 50 years, said the WEF report.
